DOCS: “WE HAVE ONE HEART” THE BEST IN MEXICO

This weekend, the creators of "We Have One Heart" will not forget for a long time. After the awards in Luxembourg and Chicago, it's time for Mexico. Katarzyna Warzecha's documentary animation won the Fragmentos Internacionale competition at the DocsMX festival.

DocsMX Festival is one of the most important documentary film festivals in Central America. Until now, it was known as DocsDF – Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México, but after ten editions, the organizers decided it was time to start writing a new chapter in the festival’s history, starting with changing its name.

The program of this year’s festival includes as many as four Polish documentaries. The films “Sonny” by Paweł Chorzępa, “Long Day Tomorrow” by Paweł Wysoczański and The Antarctic Syndrome” by Piotr Jaworski competed for prizes. In the end, the documentary animation by Katarzyna Warzecha turned out to be the winner.

The award-winning “We Have One Heart” follows the story of Adam, who finds the correspondence exchanged years ago by his parents: a Polish woman and a Kurd living in Iraq. For Adam, this is an opportunity to learn more about the father he never met. The combination of cartoon animation with archival materials allows you to move almost 40 years back, feel the emotions of people living in different parts of the world in love and discover an unusual family secret.

More about the festival can be found on its official website.
