Nancy International Film Festival, previously known under the names Aye Aye and the Nancy-Lorraine International Film Festival, has been held since 1994. Every year at the end of summer, an audience of more than 10,000 people hits the theatres in the French city. The audience has plenty to choose from. The program is original and open to new experiences from around the world.
No wonder that it was there that Damian Kocur’s film was screened – and subsequently won the recognition of the jurors of the international short film competition. The winning film “Beyond is the Day” tells the story of Paweł, a lonely man working on a small river ferry. Day after day he goes about the same activities until he stumbles upon Mohammad, an illegal immigrant. Paweł decides to help him. Finally, there is someone to talk to.
This year’s edition started on 27 August and ended on 5 September.
More information about the festival and its other winners can be found on its official website.
