SHORTS: “A DEAD MARRIAGE” WINS GRAND PRIX PRIZE

Two years after its premiere, Michał Toczek's film continues to captivate juries internationally. The short drama has now secured top honours at the Alter-Native Festival in Romania.

The Alter-Native Festival, one of Romania’s oldest and most acclaimed film events, is a fixture in the cultural calendar of Târgu Mureș. Focusing on short-form films from across the globe, the festival includes both fiction and documentary works whilst providing a vital platform for independent filmmakers.

A Dead Marriage – the winning film – is a bittersweet story about two people meeting in unusual circumstances. Filip is a middle-aged man. He works as a professional film extra, specializing in playing dead bodies. On the set of a historical film, he meets Łucja, who plays the role of a dead woman. When lying on top of each other during shots and playing their roles, Filip and Łucja start developing a relationship.
