Paweł Chorzępa’s film has been selected for the International Competition at this year’s Sapporo International Short Film Festival & Market. This is the film’s second screening in Japan. In June, “The Tuners” was screened at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Tokyo, where it won the Non-Fiction Best Short Award.
The Sapporo International Short Film Festival & Market is one of Japan’s most important festivals dedicated to short films. This year’s international competition selection features 28 films. “The Tuners” is the only Polish short documentary in the programme.
“The Tuners” takes viewers behind the scenes of one of the most important piano competitions. For a month, a group of experienced piano tuners work to achieve the perfect sound from the pianos, on which the performances and success of the competing pianists may well depend. The film tells the story of the people behind the scenes, whose work is essential, though it usually remains unseen by the audience.
