ANIM: JANINA KSIĘSKA’S “HORDE” IN THE CINANIMA COMPETITION

The short animated film “Horde” directed by Janina Księska, has been selected for the competition at the 50th CINANIMA International Animated Film Festival in Portugal. This will mark the film’s Portuguese premiere.

“Horde” which was produced at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, was selected for the competition in the student film category, alongside 33 other animated shorts from around the world. CINANIMA, held in Espinho since 1976, is one of the most important festivals dedicated to animated film in Portugal and an event of international renown. For half a century, the festival has showcased the work of animators from around the world and promoted animation as a fully-fledged form of artistic and multidisciplinary expression.

CINANIMA is one of the festivals recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—the winner of the Grand Prix in the short film competition may be eligible for the Oscar shortlist in the Best Animated Short Film category. This is another opportunity for “Horde” which has previously been screened at such renowned festivals as Anima Brussels, In the Palace, and Florida FF.
