If we plan to spend August in Italy, there is a good chance to come across a festival at which Polish short films are shown. On August 1, began Ariano IFF, where the film "A long time ago in Silesia" by Tomasz Protokowicz is included in the competition, this film will be also shown at Trinity IFF in the USA. On August 5, starts CyBorg FF, in the programme of which a large representation of Polish shorts is included. We will see the following films there: "The Gentle Giant" by Marcin Podolec, "The Rivers" and "Gucio Zaczarowany” by Daria Kopiec, "Laboratorium" by Natalia Nguyen, "Kinki” by Izumi Yoshida, "Jazz” by Leszek Gałysz and "Gyros Dance” by Piotr Loc Hoang Ngoc. Another Italian festival is Luciania FF, at which "Creatures" by Tessa Moult-Milewska will be present, whereas at the Film Festival della Lessinia you can watch "Strongwoman" by Kacper Czubak and Iwona Kaliszewska and "7 sheep" by Wiktoria Szymańska. In the last days of July, started the Italian Festival Cervino Cinemountain, where the film "The Place" is included in the competition. The short documentary film by Julia Popławska is also invited to the programme of the mountain film festival Ushuaina Shh in Argentina. There, also in the competition section, the film "Sati" by Bartłomiej Świderski will be shown.
Also in France, there are a couple of festivals which invited Polish short films to their programmes. At Limoux en Short Festival, "Don't Lose Your Head" by Karolina Specht and "Creatures" will compete for the awards, whereas at the festival Silhouette. we will see "Gyros Dance." The third French festival, at which Polish shorts will be screened, is the Festival International Du Film Nancy-Lorraine. There, the following films will vie in the competition: "Beside oneself" by Karolina Specht, the film "Lila" by Dominika Łapka and "7 sheep." The film by Wiktoria Szymańska is also included in the programme of the Rhode Island festival, together with "The Dogcatcher" by Daria Woszek and "Grandma's Day" by Miłosz Sakowski. The last of the aforementioned films will also be shown at the festival Alpinale Short FF. Together with it, "Woolen Cogwheels" by Bartosz Kędzierski and "America" by Aleksandra Terpińska will go to Austria.
Also for "America," the screening in Austria is not the only one show in August. You can also see this film at the Danish festival in Odense, where the following films were also invited to the competition: "Object" by Paulina Skibińska, "Asshole" by Krzysztof Komender and "Domestication" by Sylwia Gaweł. This animated film also appears in the programme of the Japanese festival in Hiroshima, where "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek will compete for the awards.
This month, two festival screenings await the feature film "Travelling" by Karolina Zaleszczuk. The first one will take place at the Wiz-Art Lviv International Short Film Festival in Ukraine, and the second one, during Kraljevo Film Festival in Serbia. The animated film "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec will also be shown two times this month – first, it appears at Sarajevo Film Festival, and then at Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil.
You can also see Polish animated films at the festival in Tel Aviv, where "Moko" by Marta Szymańska will be shown and at Animaze Montreal IAFF in Canada – where the Polish representation consists of "Magic Forest" by Artur Marcol and "Stone story" by Marcin Giżycki.
