FESTIVALS IN MARCH

March brings new life to film festivals. This spring many documentary films from Poland will be presented at international festivals. Check out where.

In February ZagrebDOX Festival began in Croatia. The festival's programme included five Polish films: "How to Become a Pope?" by Justyna Mytnik, "Call Me Tony" by Klaudiusz Chrostowski, "Over the limit" by Marta Prus, "Opera About Poland" by Piotr Stasik and "The Prince and the Dybbuk" by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski. The last film will be also shown at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in Greece, together with "Zhalanash – Empty Shore" by Marcin Sauter.

On March 1st Mittelpunkt Europa Film Fest began in Germany. The festival invited "Polonaise" by Agnieszka Elbanowska and "Close Ties" by Zofia Kowalewska. Agnieszka Elbanowska's documentary will be also presented at Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival in Romania, and Zofia Kowalewska's film at Pow Film Festival in the USA.

Twice this month you will have a chance to see "Last Season" by Sławomir Witek: at Bunter Hund ISFF in Munich, Germany and at World Film Festival in Estonia. The latter festival invited also two more Polish films: "Three Conversations on Life" by Julia Staniszewska and "Icon" by Wojciech Kasperski.

Two screenings await "Ethiopiques – The Revolt of Soul" by Maciej Bochniak. The film will be presented at CPH:DOX in Denmark and Docville in Belgium. There we will also see "Education" by Emi Buchwald.

Special screenings of Polish shorts will take place this month at Tampere Film Festival in Finland. The comprehensive programme includes also following documentaries: "Object" by Paulina Skibińska and "Dust" by Jakub Radej. "Dust" will also visit FebioFest in Slovakia together with "Euphoria" by Natalia Pietsch and "Opera About Poland".

Four Polish documentaries were included in the programme of Lakeside Doc Festival in India: "Communion" by Anna Zamecka, "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański, "Three Conversations on Life" and "Walking Spark" by Marcin Kopeć.

Mecal Pro International Short Film and Animation Festival will last till April 2nd. The festival will show two Polish short documentaries: "Urban Cowboys" by Paweł Ziemilski and "Volte" by Karolina Poryzała and Monika Kotecka. "Volte" will also be screened this month in Canada at Salem Film Fest.
