SHORT FILM FESTIVALS IN APRIL

Spring is in bloom, so there is a lot of Polish films at festivals. Polish short films will be shown at the Go Shorts in the Netherlamds and Trickfilm in Germany. Let's find out where Polish productions will also appear.

In March started the Belgrad Documentary and Short Film Festival, where "Volte" by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała was invited to the programme. This short documentary film was also included in the competition at the festivals Aspen Shortfest and Sarasota Film Festival in the USA and at the festival DOKer Moscow. In Russia, you can also watch "Collection" by Marcin Polar and "Dust" by Jakub Radej.

This month, "Dust" will also be shown at It’s All True in Brazil and at the festival Go Shorts in the Netherlands. Apart from this film, "Rogalik" by Paweł Ziemilski, "The Sisters" by Michał Hytroś, "16.03" by Natalia Siwicka, "Penciless Case" by Magdalena Pilecka and "Bogdan and Rose" are also included in the programme there. "Bogdan and Rose" is also invited to the Fajr IFF in Iran. 

As it is the case every month, "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska can count on a lot of screenings. The animated film will appear, among others, at Werkspoorkathedraal Festival in the Netherlands, at Granda’s Young Filmmakers Festival in Spain, at London Porn Film Festival in Great Britain and at Monstrale International Short Film Festival in Germany. There, apart from "Pussy," there is a large representation of Polish animated film: "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska, "Beside Oneself" and "Don't Lose Your Head" by Karolina Specht, "Fences" by Natalia Krawczuk, "The Baths" by Tomasz Ducki and "Lost Senses" by Marcin Wasilewski.

In April, three screenings await "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek, all of them in Germany. The animated film will be shown at the Cellu l'art Short Film Festival, the Filmfest Dresden and at Trickfilm in Stuttgart. At Trickfilm, "Guest" by Aleksander Józefczyk, "Fugue For Cello, Trumpet and Landscape" and "Tuning the Instruments" by Jerzy Kucia will also appear. In Dresden, "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek, "Chainlets" by Alicja Błaszczyńska and "Debut" by Katarzyna Kijek will be shown. The animated film by Katarzyna Kijek is also invited to the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon and to the Kyiv ISFF in Ukraine. There, "Tremors" by Dawid Bodzak will be shown, too. 

At the beginning of April, "Close Ties" by Zofia Kowalewska will participate in the Cleveland festival in the USA, and "Nothing New Under the Sun" by Damian Kocur will be shown at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria IFF in Spain. Another film by the same director, "The Return," will appear at the Cortex Film Festival in Portugal, together with "Lockjaw" by Kordian Kądziela.

The documentary film "Pasdar" by Grzegorz Piekarski will be presented at the International Film Festival of Lanzarote, whereas the feature film "Jet lag" by the same director will appear at the Changing Perspectives FF, which is held in the USA, Turkey and Germany. In the Republic of Macedonia, at the Skopje Film Festival, you can watch "Hot and Cold" by Marta Prus, and in Romania at the ClujShorts Film Festival – "I've Got You" by Sebastian Drożak.

This month, Polish short films will also be shown in South America, in Chile at the Talca IFF, the audience will watch the Polish-American co-production "Have No Fear" by Beata Calińska and Sarah Jacobson, and at the Buenos Aires Running Film Festival in Argentina, "Short Distance" by Giovani Pierangeli.

On the 26th of April starts the International Documentary Film Festival Hot Docs in Canada. In the programme of this year's edition, there are five Polish documentary films, including one short film: "Leocadia's Dream" by Krzysztof Nowicki.

The end of the month means the screening of the film "Morning Has Broken" by Olga Chajdas at the Maryland IFF in the USA and the animated film "Vanilla/Whip" by Bogna Kowalczyk at the Cinema Perpetuum Mobile in Belarus.
