“DESERT COFFEE” AWARDED IN THE USA

At the beginning of July the winners of the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards were announced. "Desert Coffee" by Mykael Lypinski was among the awarded films.

The aim of the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards is to promote independent filmmakers by inviting them to take part in this unique competition. The organizers select to the competition the best films from around the world. During this year's edition of the competition the Spotlight Gold Award went to "Desert Coffee" by Mykael Lypinski.

"Desert Coffee" takes place in the Californian part of the Sonoran desert – in the close vicinity of military bases – in a “wild” town called Slab City inhabited by the refugees from the American Dream. Of different ages they brought with them various stories, but all chose freedom instead of basic comforts. The only place provided with electricity is a makeshift Internet café run by Rob which serves “the best coffee in the hood”.

A full list of the awarded films is available on the festival website.
