POLISH SHORT FILMS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN AUGUST

Summer is at its peak, and at the short film festivals it is slowly getting hotter. This month, Polish short films will be shown, among others, at the Sao Paolo Film Festival in Brazil or at the Concorto Film Festival in Italy. Let's see where else can you watch Polish productions?

In August, many festivals are held in the Balkans and that is why it is in this region where it is worthwhile to search for the screenings of Polish documentary films. On the 1st of August, starts the festival Herzeg Novi in Montenegro, where you can watch "Sisters" by Michał Hytroś, three days later starts the DokuFest Kosovo, at which "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek will be shown, and the following week, at the Sarejevo Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the film "Dust" by Jakub Radej will appear. In the Republic of Macedonia, the programme Meet the Poles! awaits the viewers; it is a large review of both the latest and classic Polish documentary films, also short documentary films. A lot of screenings of Polish short films in August are held in Italy, too. The selectors of the Concorto Film Festival in Italy decided to present the viewers "Euphoria" by Natalia Pietsch, "Tremors" by Dawid Bodzak and the film "Jerry". The Molise Cinema Film Festival will show "Milk" by Urszula Morga, La Guarimba IFF – "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska, and the Animaphix IAFF – "Carrot Field" by Kacper Zamarło, "Xoxo – Hugs and Kisses" by Wiola Sowa and "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska. The animated film by Gąsiorowska will also be shown at the Dotdotdot Open Air Short Film Festival in Austria. "Bernard" by Anna Oparkowska will also appear in Austria, but at a different festival: at the Alpinale Short Film Festival.

To the programme of the Wilde Möhre Festival in Germany "Close Ties" by Zofia Kowalewska is invited, and "The Boys" by Paweł Orwat and "Killing Auntie" by Mateusz Głowacki will participate in the screening at the Summer Film School Uherske Hardiste in the Czech Republic. Five Polish short films will feature in Denmark at the Odense Film Festival. These are: "Pussy," "Too Tash" by Dariusz Sipowski, "Dust," "Volte" by Karolina Poryzała and Monika Kotecka and "American Dream" by Marek Skrzecz. At the Nancy International Film Festival in France, the audience will have a chance to watch "Short Distance" by Giovanni Pierangeli.

The audience in the United States will watch Polish short films during the Big Sur Screening Series. There, "Me and My Father" by Alek Pietrzak and "Morning Has Broken" by Olga Chajdas will be shown. "Black" by Tomasz Popakul, however, will be included in the programme of the Scribe Video Center's Street Movies! Film Festival. In South America, the audience will see Polish short films, among others, at the Sao Paulo ISFF in Brazil, in the programme, there are "Incarnation" by Barbara Rupik and "Tremors."

In August, Polish productions will be present in Australia and Oceania, too. At the Melbourne IFF, "III" by Marta Pajek and "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska will be presented. In New Zealand, at the festival Animation Now! the films "Oh, God!" by Betina Brożek, "Evening" by Izabela Plucińska, "Room" by Michał Socha and "Moczarski's Case" by Tomasz Siwiński will appear.

Polish short films will also appear in Asia. At the Jecheon Film Festival in South Korea, you can watch "Leocadia's Dream" by Krzysztof Nowicki, at the SICAF, also in Korea, "Room" by Michał Socha, and at the festival in Hiroshima, four Polish animated films.

This month, you can see Polish animated films also at the festival Animix in Israel, at the Belo Horizonte in Brazil, the Monterrey IFF in Mexico, at the Salute Your Shorts in the USA, at the Sampo International Puppet Theatre Festival and at Turku in Finland, at the Palm Springs IAF in the USA and at the Silhouette in France.
