SHORTS: “A DEAD MARRIAGE” GETS AWARD IN ROMANIA

The fiction film by Michał Toczek received the award for Best Student Film at the Bucharest Short Film Festival.

Bucharest Short Film Festival is a tribute to independent filmmakers from around the world. The organisers of the event find it important to promote and reach a wide audience with interesting films, as well as to open up to the industry. The event’s rich program presents the most interesting animated shorts, fiction films, documentaries, student films, productions about human rights, more experimental works, and music videos.

This year, there was a single favourite in the student film competition. It wasn’t the first time Michał Toczek’s A Dead Marriage delighted festival jurors.

The awarded film is a bittersweet story about two people meeting in unusual circumstances. Filip is a middle-aged man. He works as a professional film extra, specializing in playing dead bodies. On the set of a historical film, he meets Łucja, who plays the role of a dead woman. When lying on top of each other during shots and playing their roles, Filip and Łucja start developing a relationship.
