The São Paulo International Short Film Festival is an event aimed at promoting local and international short films. What makes this festival stand apart is its non-competitive nature. Films are screened in various sections and it is the viewers, not the judges, who get the chance to share their admiration for a particular short film. Every year, the audience selects 10 favourite films from the entire program. This year, a Polish animated film is among them.
Applauded by the Brazilian audience, Andrzej Jobczyk's Airborne is surreal animated film that combines the world of flying machine with the animal and plant kingdom. A fighter pilot loses track of his target and crashes. The plane crashes into a tree crown. It's a tragedy that seems to be the end but instead opens a new chapter of the story. New life awakens at the crash site destined to uncover the mystery of its origin. Airborne is a story about passion, its roots, and what we have to lose in order to be born again.
