In less than a month, the film will be screened in the International Competition at the 15th Québec City Film Festival. The event, which has been held since 2011, brings together filmmakers and audiences interested in contemporary cinema from Canada and around the world in Québec every year. This year’s edition will take place from September 9 to 13.
A month later, audiences at the Primanima Festival in Hungary will have the chance to see the film. Primanima is a festival dedicated to first animated films, showcasing the work of debuting and young directors from around the world. “Territory” has been selected for the Young Directors competition alongside dozens of other animated films chosen for this year’s edition, which will take place October 14–17 in Budapest.
In “Territory” a girl is kidnapped by her own body. In the labyrinth of her inner self, the girl must face the obsessions and desires of a person who is doomed to food — ever-present and painfully tempting. The film explores a toxic relationship with one’s body. It shows the illness from an internal perspective, emphasizing confusion, loneliness, and of loss of control — emotions that are often invisible but deeply embedded in the everyday lives of people struggling with.
The film was made at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
