“Atlas” won the award at the prestigious Spanish festival De Cinema De Huesca, having beaten almost thirty competitors from all over the world. The jury explained their choice of this film “because, it tells a fantastic story with great talent, from an imaginative and original script and using a range of metaphorical readings about society. The short film plays with a great staging that flows at an allegretto ma non troppo rhythm which leads you toward a great ending.. ”
The Grand Prix at the HIFF is one of the main awards entitling the film to apply for the Academy Award. The victory of the film by Kawalski opens the road to the Academy Award nomination.
At the festival De Cinema De Huesca, the audience could also watch the documentary film “Horse Riders” by Anna Gawlita and “Tango of Longing” by Marta Szymańska, against which “Atlas” competed in the international competition.
The protagonists of the film “Atlas” are the inhabitants of an eccentric psychiatric hospital. One of them, docent Adam Prażmowski, stands with his hands up and keeps silent all day and night.
