The GoEast Festival has been held in Wiesbaden since 2001, presenting a comprehensive overview of Central and Eastern European cinema, with a programme covering current trends, new voices and rare cinematic gems, always within the context of discussions on socio-political issues, film aesthetics and film theory. Among the most important and frequently addressed themes are European identity/identities and the profound processes of transformation, both historical and contemporary, taking place in the culturally and politically diverse region on which the festival focuses. Since the start of its second decade, goEast, as a forum for dialogue between East and West, has increasingly dedicated itself to promoting transcultural perspectives and addressing global issues.
“The Queen and the Smokehouse” , one of sixteen feature-length films, has been selected for the International Competition. This will be its German premiere.
This year’s edition of goEast will take place from 21 to 27 April. More information about the festival here.
