DOCS: “SILVER” IN OFFICIAL SELECTION AT ONE WORLD IN PRAGUE

"Silver" by Natalia Koniarz has been selected for the world's largest documentary film festival dedicated to human rights – One World in Prague,Czech Republic.

Silver will be presented in the Climate in Need section, which showcases contemporary films addressing environmental themes. As the organisers note, the films selected for this section rarely confine themselves to highlighting environmental problems. Rather, they tackle complex issues, reflecting the multifaceted challenges that society faces in the wake of climate change. Together, they pose a vital challenge to audiences: to envision constructive narratives that offer not only potential solutions but, above all, hope.

Silver takes us deep into the oldest silver mine in Bolivia. In the silence and darkness of a trembling mountain, we discover a subterranean world through the eyes of a boy, an ageing miner, and a woman. Where sweat mingles with the blood of history, what emerges is a story of colonial legacy and an unending cycle of exploitation. A tribute to memory and resilience, the film compels us to peer into the darkness beneath the surface of consciousness.

The film is a co-production between Poland, Norway, and Finland. This is not its first screening in the Czech Republic. It had its international premiere in October at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, where it received three awards.

The One World Festival runs from 11 to 19 March. You can find out more here.
