DOCS: “THE TUNERS” IN THE COMPETITIONS OF PRESTIGIOUS FESTIVALS – PALM SPRINGS SHORTFEST IN THE USA AND DOC EDGE IN NEW ZEALAND

The international career of "The Tuners" is gaining momentum. Paweł Chorzępa’s latest documentary has been selected for the competition programmes of two prestigious Oscar-qualifying festivals – the Palm Springs International ShortFest in the US and Doc Edge in New Zealand – where it will compete for further major awards.

“The Tuners” continues its successful festival run. The film has been selected for the official programme of the Palm Springs International ShortFest, one of North America’s most important short film festivals, which will take place from 23 to 29 June in California. Paweł Chorzępa’s documentary has been shortlisted for the Best Documentary Short competition. The festival organisers emphasised that, out of over 300 films presented at this year’s edition, only 30–40 titles made it into each of the competition categories, and the selection for the documentary competition was the result of a careful selection process. The winners will be decided by an international jury, and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 28 June. All films taking part in the festival will also compete for the Audience Award.

The next stop on “The Tuners” festival tour will be Doc Edge, New Zealand’s largest documentary film festival, which will take place from 24 June to 10 August in Auckland and Wellington. The film has been invited to the Labour of Love section, and its screening at the festival will also mark its premiere in Australia and Oceania.

Doc Edge is one of the most important documentary festivals in the Asia-Pacific region and holds Oscar-qualifying status. As part of the festival’s official selection, “Stroiciele” is automatically in the running for the Best International Short award. The winner of the category will receive a cash prize and qualify to compete for an Oscar nomination. The winners will be announced at the festival gala, which will take place on 1 July in Auckland.
