DOCS: “EVERYTHING NEEDS TO LIVE” WINS SPECIAL MENTION AT MEXICAN FESTIVAL

"Everything Needs to Live", directed by Tetiana Dorodnitsyna and Andrii Lytvynenko, has received a Special Mention in the Global DOC main competition at DocsMX in Mexico City.

Held on 23-31 October 2025, DocsMX is one of Central America most significant documentary film events. Since 2006, the festival has championed contemporary documentary art, fostered emerging talent, and inspired new film projects throughout Mexico and Latin America.

“Everything Needs to Live” follows Anna Kurkurina – three-time world powerlifting champion, animal rights activist, and outspoken LGBTQ+ advocate. Connected with the world of nature since a young age, she worked as a biology teacher and at a local zoo, where she formed a bond with a lion. Over time, she began rescuing homeless animals, setting up shelters, and finding new homes for strays. After turning forty, she embarked upon a sporting career, becoming an icon of strength, empathy, and determination. Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Anna has leveraged her popularity to aid injured and abandoned animals. Her guiding principle – “whoever saves one life, saves the entire world” – perfectly encapsulates the film message.
