The Selection Committee of 49th KFF has chosen the films for national competition. 20 documentaries, 7 animations and 4 short fictions are rivaling for Golden Hobby-Horse.
The Selection Committee has underlined high quality of the submitted films, especially documentaries, as it seems this year the most celebrated Polish documentary filmmakers will be competing in Krakow.
Professor Tadeusz Lubelski, member of the Selection Committee and Chairman of Krakow Film Foundation Board has said: – We particularly liked new films from Maciej Drygas ‘Usłysz nas wszystkich’ and Marcel Łoziński ‘Poste restante’ – both successfully introducing a metaphysic to the documentary cinema. We also liked ‘King Hugo’ directed by Franco de PeA^a, a Venezuelian living in Poland, registering a political division in his own country – against and pro president Chavez. These films have been selected to represent Poland in the international competition. The Selection Committee regrets there was not enough room to qualify to the international competition at least one of the two new films from Tomasz Wolski, director successfully referring to the canon of Polish documentary.
