NEWBORN

DZIECKO

When Aśka’s child is born, she faces a choice she did not expect. Together, with the father of her child, they are ready to welcome a baby boy but the eponymous newborn has biological features of both sexes. The doctor presents the young parents with surgery as a solution – they would only have to choose the sex. She has a child, but now she needs to decide whether she is going to be raising a son or a daughter. Unfortunately, in Poland, where the plot takes place, the law determines there is no third sex, i.e., intersex people do not exist under any law. The issue comes out when the woman’s parents visit to greet their grandson. They pressure the mother, trying to convince her to their point of view so she decides quickly. Will the woman stand up to her family and fight for the freedom of her newborn baby.
