"The Contest" is a documentary observation made during the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition Preliminaries in 2010. It pictures world of contestants’ inner emotions. Documentary also questions the point of competition in art, which is tend to be judged in the same category as sport, and at the same time deprived of its main features such as intimacy, independence and individuality.

Jakub Cuman

Director. A graduate at Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw. The author of a documentary etiude "Podróż". He started with off-films. Later on, co-operated with TVP and TVN in creating television documentaries and short documentary forms. Cooperated with director Janusz Majewski on feature films: "Miłość w przejściu podziemnym" and "Mała Matura 1947". Recently directed documentary film „Konkurs”. Member of FILM 1,2 Association.
