The halny wind is the most unpredictable element in the Polish mountains. It comes in cycles, in every spring and autumn. One never knows if or when it turns into a destructive gale. Halny particularly affects the inhabitants of Zakopane and its area, changing picturesque mountain trails into a set for an untamed performance of nature.

Michał Bielawski

Graduate of the Humanities Dept. at the University of Warsaw. Since 2005 he collaborates with the TVP Kultura channel, for several years co-worked with Planete Doc Review film festival in Warsaw. Author of many television reportages and television interviews. In 2011, his television program “One Scene” – interviews with accomplished Polish filmmakers, was nominated for the Polish Film Institute Prize and the Grand Press Prize. His areas of interest include forgotten episodes of the “great” history and rediscovering their sense and meaning. He has been working on a historical novel “The Real End of War” which links the post-war Poland and martial law Poland. Documentary “Mundial. The Highest Stakes” is his directorial debut.
