La Guarimba is a short film festival, organised in the Calabrian town of Amantea. The festival is very young – this year, from 7 to 11 August, its third edition was held. Aga Woszczyńska can certainly consider this event successful. Her film “Fragments” won two festival awards in the Fiction category: the Best Fiction Award and the Best Cinematography Award for the camera work by Bartosz Świniarski. The jury who awarded "Fragments" consisted of Tomas Sheridan (Italy), Sam Morill (USA) and a team of Spanish film critics and directors El Tornillo de Klaus.
"Fragments" ia a collection of loosely connected scenes, depicting a breakdown of a relationship and a collapse of the world to which the main female character is desperately clinging on to. Anna and her partner have well-paid jobs, intense sex and go jogging every other morning. They live comfortable yet monotonous bourgeois life. That makes Anna slowly fall apart.
The full list of award-winning films can be found on the festival's website.
