KFF SALES & PROMOTION FILMS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN AUGUST

The holiday season is always associated with film festivals. Now, even despite the pandemic, the situation is quite similar. It is true that while most of the events take place online or in a hybrid form, there will still be plenty of film screenings. The programs of many international events taking place in August include films from KFF Sales&Promotion catalogue.

Several important festivals began at the end of July. Two of our films were shown at the Italian Animaphix International Animated Film Festival – “Colaholic” by Marcin Podolec and “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska, at the Romanian Transilvania International Film Festival you can also see “Acid Rain” by Tomek Popakul and the Almagro International Film Festival in Spain will showcase “Story” by Jola Bańkowska and “You Are Overreacting” by Karina Paciorkowska.

At the beginning of August, the 38th edition of the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival will start, where “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska will compete for awards and XXIII Cervino Cinemountain will start with  “The Wind. A Documentary Thriller” by Michał Bielawski  at the programme. At the same time, the first screenings of the Kyiv International Short Film Festival will take place in Ukraine. One of the festival films there is “Story” by Jola Bańkowska. The animation was also invited to the Italian competition La Guarimba, where it will compete with Barbara Rupik’s “Little Soul”.

The turpist animation will have an extremely intense month, the audience will have a chance to watch it, among others at the American Florida Film Festival, the Korean Busan International Short Film Festival, the Danish OFF – Odense International Film Festival, the Brazilian Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival or the Japanese International Animation Festival in Japan – HIROSHIMA, where Natalia Durszewicz’s “Ovule” will also be screened, and “Tango of Longing” by Marta Szymańska.

Durszewicz’s film was also included in the Anibar International Animation Festival competition. “Acid Rain” by Tomek Popakul and “Guilt” by Marcjanna Urbańska will also compete for awards in Kosovo, alongside “Ovule”. Also, in the program of the Italian Imaginaria International Animated Film Festival the audience may have chance to see “Such a Beautiful Town” by Marta Koch,

Two Polish documentaries were also invited to the competition at the Portuguese FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival he short films “Fuck, it’s biology” by Veronika Andersson and “The Vibrant Village” by Weronika Jurkiewicz will compete for the awards. Both titles will have one more screening this month. Andersson’s film will be seen by viewers of the Macedonian MakeDox,  where “The Tough” by Marcin Polar and “Breathe” by Daria Kasperek will also be showcased. In turn, “The Vibrant Village” along with the Kasperek’s documentary will travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the local Sarajevo Film Festival.

This month there will include a few more screenings of “The Wind. A Documentary Thriller”. Following Cervino Cinemountain, the documentary will travel to the United States at the Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival and The Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival and to Germany at the FilmPOLSKA Festival, where the program also includes the documentary “In Touch” by Paweł Ziemilski. And at the end of the month, Bielawski’s film will be presented alongside  “The Tough” by Marcin Polar at the prestigious 68th Trento Film Festival.

Two Polish animations were included in the programs of the Kyiv International Film Festival «Molodist», the International Animation Festival Fest Anča and the ONE Country ONE Film International Festival. At the Ukrainian event, the audience will see “Such A Beautiful Town” by Marta Koch and “The Little Soul” by Barbara Rupik. The latter title will also have a chance to be awarded at Fest Ance, where “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska was also invited. During the last festival, you will be able to see “Story” by Jola Bańkowska and “Red Light Train”. This month, animation by Alicja Kot will also be screened in Mexico during the Monterrey International Film Festival, and “Story” will go to Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Sarajevo Film Festival.

In addition, in the second half of August, Polish short films will appear in the United States – “Play” by Piotr Sułkowski in The International Vegas Cine Club competition and in France –“Hi, how are you” by Michał Chmielewski in the Nancy International Film Festival competition.

Two festival invitations this month went to “The Sisters” by Michał Hytros. The film will visit the Italian Apulia Film Fest and the German KURZSUECHTIG Short Film Festival. The International Mountain Film Festival Ushuaia SHH will start in Argentina on a similar date. Marcin Polar’s “The Tough” will compete there.

There will also be a lot going on in the second half of the month. The Ukrainian Molodist International Film Festival will include a screening of Mateusz Buława’s “We Will Talk Again”. In Canada, during KlezKanada, viewers will see Tomasz Knittel’s “Złota Street” and Krzysztof and Diana Kadłubowski’s “Today, tomorrow … yesterday”.

The Sevastopol International Doc & TV Festival will take place at the turn of August and September. “Breathe” by Daria Kasperek was invited to the competition. And on the last day of the month, the 11th edition of One Country One Film International Festival will start in France. The program includes two Polish documentaries – “Family2” by Yifan Sun and “Letters to A” by Wiktoria Szymańska.
