In the second half of November, in Spain started the several-week-long Soria International Film Festival. In the competition, there was the film “In A Lion” by Karol Lindholm. At the end of the previous month started the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, where “19:91” by Emilia Śniegoska will compete for the award.
The first days of December will bring the screening of “Tango of Longing” by Marta Szymańska at the Russian International Festival-Workshop of Film Schools Kinoproba, the competition screenings of the film “Colaholic” by Marcin Podolec at the Brazillian Mumia – International Animation Film Festival, “Story” by Jola Bańkowska and “Metro” by Natalia Krawczuk at the China International New Media Short Film Festival.
On the 3rd of December start as many as three festivals at which there will be no lack of Polish documentary films in the competition sections. At the China International New Media Short Film Festival “The Tough” has a chance to win. The film by Marcin Polar will compete for the awards at the Colombian Bogoshorts. In the competition, it will be accompanied by the debut film by Anna Gawlita, “Horse Riders.” The China International New Media Short Film Festival is not the only Chinese festival starting at the beginning of December. At the same time, the Sound & Image Challenge International Festival is held. In the programme of that festival, you can find two Polish documentary films: “The Briefing” by Filip Drzewiecki and “Dam” by Natalia Koniarz.
A few days later, the Artdocfest starts in Russia. “Shadows of the Empire” by Karol Starnowski will have its special screening there.
You can find a large representation of our films in the programme of the Slovenian Animateka. In the competition section, there are as many as six Polish animated films represented by the agency. The following films will compete for the awards: “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska, “Acid Rain” by Tomek Popakul, “Story” by Jola Bańkowska, “The Little Soul” by Barbara Rupik, “Metro” by Natalia Krawczuk and Ovule” by Natalia Durszewicz. In turn, in the non-competing sections at the Slovenian festival, we can find “Guilt” by Marcjanna Urbańska, “Leather” by Karolina Borgiasz, “The Hunt” by Mateusz Jarmulski.
As many as five Polish animated films from our catalogue are invited to the Sommets du cinéma d’animation in Canada. The jury will have the opportunity to award “Story” by Jola Bańkowska, “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska, “The Little Soul” by Barbara Rupik and “My Strange Elder Brother” by Julia Orlik. The Canadian viewers will also watch “Metro” by Natalia Krawczuk.
Also at the beginning of December starts the 31st edition of the Aguilar Film Festival in Spain. There, we keep our fingers crossed for the animated film “The Hunt” by Mateusz Jarmulski. On the same day as the Spain festival, starts the Bogotá Short Film Festival – BOGOSHORTS. Among the selected films, there is also the film by Jarmulski, and in addition to it, there is no lack of “Story” by Jola Bańkowska, “Ovule” by Natalia Durszewicz and the premiere screening of “Red Light Train” by Alicja Kot.
Another festival, which features Polish films, is the Poitiers Film Festival, where the viewers will have the opportunity to watch “Daughter” by Mary Tamkovich, “The Little Soul” by Rupik and “Tango of Longing” by Szymańska. The film by Tamkovich will also have a chance to win the award at the Leuven International Short Film Festival, in turn “Acid Rain” will compete for the laurels at the London International Animation Festival, whereas “Tango of Longing” by Szymańska will be evaluated by the jury of the Russian festival Kinoproba. “Colaholic” by Marcin Podolec is included in the competition at the Brazillian festival Mumia, and “Metro” by Natalia Krawczuk and “Story” by Bańkowska will be screened at the China International New Media Short Film Festival.
By the end of the month, three more films will participate in the competitions at the French festivals: “Badylok” by Karolina Kłapkowska and “Happiness” by Maciej Buchwald will be shown at the Tous Courts of Aix-en-Provence. And “Play” by Piotr Sułkowski will have a chance for the awards at the Culver City Film Festival in the United States. The film by Sułkowski is also included on the competition lists of several festivals in the Far East.
December will be the month of Jola Bańkowska’s film. “Story,” in addition to the aforementioned festivals, will also be shown in Jordan at the Karama Human Right Film Festival, in Great Britain at the Cromarty Film Festival, in France at the Les Arcs Film Festival and at two Turkish festivals: the AFSAD and the International Amity Short Film Festival. At the former of these festivals, there will be no lack of two other Polish animated films. Two films by Marcin Podolec: “Colaholic” and “A Documentary Film,” will also have their screenings there. And at the latter of the festivals, the feature film “Loved Ones” by Zofia Kowalewska will also be shown.
Just before Christmas, the Microwave International New Media Arts Festival starts in Hong Kong. The screening of the animated film “Room” by Michał Socha waits for the audience there.
