KUBA CZEKAJ AWARDED AT SHQIP FILM FEST IN KOSOVO

At the International Short Film Festival SHQIP FILM FEST in Kosovo, ended on 20th July, Grand Prix went to Kuba Czekaj for his short film “Don’t be afraid of the dark room”.




The main prize at the SHQIP FILM FEST fes­ti­val is an­other sig­nif­i­cant award for the young Pol­ish di­rec­tor, who can boast of win­ning the “Trójka’s Tal­ent” title, given by the Third Chan­nel of Pol­ish Radio, as well as other awards, such as: The Sil­ver Hobby-​Horse at the 50th Krakow Film Fes­ti­val for the best short fea­ture film and Grand Prix in the Young Pol­ish Cin­ema com­pe­ti­tion at 34th Pol­ish Film Fes­ti­val in Gdy­nia.

Don’t be afraid of the dark room” is a story about a bound­less love of eleven-​year-old girl, Łata, to her fa­ther. Łata pre­pares a song for the school cer­e­mony, or­ga­nized on the oc­ca­sion of the forth­com­ing Fa­ther’s Day. This makes the girl look at her fa­ther more care­fully than usual. In order to de­scribe her feel­ings as well as she can, the girl be­gins to slowly un­ravel se­crets hid­den by her fa­ther…

The film was made within the frames of “30 min­utes” pro­gram , which helps young film-​makers in cre­at­ing usu­ally their first short film. The pro­gram is co­or­di­nated by Munk Stu­dio, work­ing by the Pol­ish Film­mak­ers As­so­ci­a­tion. This film is avail­able on the lat­est edi­tion of Munk Stu­dio DVD – “Pol­ish de­buts 2009/2010”.
