DOCS: “ONLY THE WIND” NAMED BEST DOCUMENTARY IN TURKEY

The documentary by Zosia Kowalewska was awarded at TRT Belgesel Ödülleri.

TRT Belgesel Ödülleri is a Turkish festival that has been held in early June for the past 13 years. The event promotes documentary cinema from all over the world. In addition to screenings, its program includes numerous workshops and meetings with creators.

This year, the jury decided to award a Polish production – Only the Wind. Zofia Kowalewska’s extremely personal documentary revolves around her journey to a remote village in Kazakhstan with her grandfather 92-year-old Zdzisław. For him, it’s a return to the place where – as a teenager – he was exiled by the Soviets during World War II. After 70 years, he travels again to the country of his childhood in search of his first love, whom he had to leave behind. His granddaughter wants to support him on this difficult quest, while discovering the reality behind the tales she heard as a child. This is their last chance to say goodbye.
