“Polish school of animation – next generation” is a third edition of a series of screenings presenting the Polish animated outcome abroad, that was originated nearly two years ago on the occasion of Polish presidency. Among 40 films there are both the classic animations such as “Road” by Mirosław Kijowicz, “Red and black” by Witold Giersz or “Everything is a number” by Stefan Schabenbeck as well as the titles, that received acclaim in last few years among them “The Cathedral” by Tomasz Bagiński or “Ichtys” by Marek Skrobecki. The programme will be screened at eight film festivals among them in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, France or Slovakia, where in one week Polish films will be screened at Fest Anča. The Fest Anča Animated Film Festival – held at the end of June – is one of fourteen European festivals nominating for Cartoon d’Or award for the best, short animated films. Every year apart from the competitive programme, the festival displays also a rich side programme presenting a wide range of animated film.
Three Polish films will be screened in competitive sections of the festival – an awarded “Ziegenort” by Tomek Popakul will be screened in the main competition, “What happens when children don’t eat soup” by Paweł Prewencki made it to the student film competition while “Shape” by Kijek/ Adamski will compete for the laurels of music video competition.
It is worth to mention that a Polish-Hungarian animator Tomek Ducki, the author of acclaimed animated short “Life Line” was invited to join the music video competition jury. The sixth edition of the festival will kick off on Tuesday – 27th June and will last till the 30th June.
