The 35th edition of Moscow International Film Festival has ended this Saturday. The film „Father and son” by Paweł Łoziński, for which the screening in Moscow has been its international premiere, has been awarded with the Silver George prize for the best film of the Documentary Competition. Polish production has competed for awards with six other documentaries from all over the world selected to take part in the „Free thought” Documentary Competition. All the films have been watched by the jury composed of Sergei Dvortsevoy (Russia), Claas Danielsen (Germany) and Coco Schrijber (The Netherlands).
Łoziński’s documentary tries to show the strong and complicated relationship, full of resentments and implicit meanings, that bonds two acclaimed documentarists, Marcel and Paweł Łoziński. They go on a car journey across Europe. For the father, it is a return to his birthplace, for the son, an attempt at a critical review of their past together. Both are trying to capture this difficult dialogue using the camera.
It is worth mentioning that „Father and son” had its world premiere at 53rd Krakow Film Festival, where it was awarded with the Silver Horn prize for the best feature-length documentary.
