FIVE OF OUR FILMS IN THE CINEAST OFFICIAL SELECTION

No fewer than five films from the KFF Sales catalogue have been included in the official selection for this year’s CinEast Festival in Luxembourg – one of the most important events showcasing cinema from Central and Eastern Europe. The festival will take place from 9 to 25 October 2026.

The programme features two feature-length documentaries: ‘Silver’ by Natalia Koniarz, screened as part of the Screenings for the Planet section, and ‘The Queen and the Smokehouse’ by Iga Lis. Both screenings will be complemented by meetings with the filmmakers – following the screening of “Silver”, there will be a discussion with the director, whilst “The Queen and the Smokehouse” will be followed by a Q&A session.

Polish documentary cinema will also be represented by two short films: “The Tuners” by Paweł Chorzępa and “Hidden” by Monika Kotecka, which have been selected for the Short Documentary Films Marathon. Meanwhile, Janina Księska’s animated film “Horde” will be screened as part of the Short Animated Films Marathon. All three short films will be in the running for the Audience Award.

For years, CinEast has been promoting the most interesting productions from Central and Eastern Europe, combining film screenings with meetings with filmmakers, debates and cultural events. The presence of five Polish productions this year provides yet another opportunity to showcase the diversity of contemporary Polish cinema to an international audience.
