POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL IN HIROSHIMA

At the end of the month starts the 17th Hiroshima International Animation Festival. Seven Polish animated films are included in the competition at this prestigious event.

The festival in Hiroshima is in the lead of international animated film festivals. Its first edition was held in 1985, in the fortieth anniversary of atomic bombing. The festival, which is under the patronage of the Japanese ASIFA from the first edition, adopted the motto “Love and Peace,” which is mirrored in its programme. Every year, the event gathers almost 35 thousand viewers.

From among almost 3 thousand entries, the festival selectors have chosen only 75 films. Among them, there are as many as seven Polish animated films: Moczarski’s Case by Tomasz Siwiński, Fish Shopby Maria Kulpa, Traces of ephemeral by Agnieszka Waszczeniuk, XOXO – Hugs and Kissesby Wiola Sowa, Oh Motherby Paulina Ziółkowska, Strange Caseby Zbigniew Czapla andSquaring the Circleby Karolina Specht.

The winner of the international competition, chosen by the 5-person jury, will be announced on the 27th of August.
