POLISH FILMS AWARDED AT ZAGREBDOX

On March 3, the award ceremony at the Croatian festival ZagrebDox was held. On that day, "Over the Limit" by Marta Prus and "Call Me Tony" by Klaudiusz Chrostowski received the awards.

This year, the festival ZagrebDOX was held for the 14th time. The Croatian festival is one of the most important ones in this region of Europe. During the week-long event, the audience, the representatives of the film industry and the jury had the opportunity to watch over 120 films from all over the world. Among them, there were five films from Poland, and two of them returned from the festival with the awards. "Call Me Tony" by Klaudiusz Chrostowski received the Teen Dox Special Mention Award and "Over the Limit" by Marta Prus received the Little Stamp Award for best film of a young author up to 35 years of age.

Moreover  at ZagrebDox Pro, the industry program, was given the awards to the presented projects.  DCP Award, a diploma and a DCP format upon the completion of the project, given at the discretion of all the panellists, went to the team of the Polish project Symphony of the Ursus Factory, director Jaśmina Wójcik and production manager Joanna Tatko from Wajda Studio. In Symphony of the Ursus Factory former workers with the help of factory sounds and their body memory recreate a day at the factory plant which no longer exists.

"Over the Limit" is an intimate drama about the brutal relationships that lead to success. Margarita Mamun, an elite Russian rhythmic gymnast, is struggling to become an Olympic champion. It is the most important year of her career and her last chance to achieve the ultimate goal, the gold Olympic medal. The film creates a captivating portrait of a young woman who is desperately trying to handle her own ambitions and meet the expectations of the official Russian training system. It offers an exclusive access to the hidden world of the elite gymnastics and a unique insight into the triangle between the young sportswoman and her two trainers. 

"Call Me Tony" is a coming of age story about the time when the whole world expects us to have answers but all we have is questions. Konrad, an 18-year-old bodybuilder who wants to be an actor desperately fights for his absent father's attention. Konrad lives in a small mining town in southern Poland. In his attempts to get noticed he looks up to his favorite action movie heroes, spends hours on the gym and signs up for a body building competition.An inner conflict between who he is and who he thinks he should be to get people's acceptance soon leads to a depression.His life changes after he revisits his childhood passion  for acting.Will he find his own way?
