Documentary „A piece of summer” directed by Marta Minorowicz is going to represent our country in the international competition. The film – that has already gained recognition at international film festivals to name just the Golden Dove won at this year’s DOK Leipzig- directed by the graduate of Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing was produced by Munk Studio in coproduction with Studio Kronika within the programme „First documentary film”.
Moreover – like every year – Poland is going to promote the newest short productions at the national stand during Short Film Market. POLISH SHORTS stand, organized by Krakow Film Foundation, is going to be one of few dozen stands promoting cinematographies from all over the world. The Polish stand will provide the information on latest Polish productions, coproduction possibilities and short film festivals held in our country. Furthermore film professionals will be given a chance of getting familiar with newly released titles, watch trailers and make new contacts with Polish producers, distributors and festivals’ representatives. Every visitor will be also provided a DVD compillation „Polish Shorts 2010” prepared especially on that occasion by Krakow Film Foundation, Adam Mickiewicz Institute with the support of Polish Film Institute, that pushes on the idea launched in two previous editions by presenting the selection of latest Polish short films.
Polish producers and filmmakers travelling to France will be also given an opportunity of taking part in the European Short Film Co-production Forum Euro Connection organized third time by French film institution Sauve Qui Peut le Court Metrage in cooperation with Marche du Film Court de Clermont-Ferrand, CNC and Media Desk France. Krakow Film Foundation, who is the Polish partner for the Forum, had chosen two projects, giving their authours a chance of presenting their plans and achivements to the board of experts. By this means they will be also given the perfect opportunity of finding international coproducer or selling the film for broadcasting by the most important television channels such as ARTE or CANAL+. The Polish project – „A house at the end the Road” by Wojciech Kasperski– is going to be presented at the pitching session held on 8th February. The project that is being developed in Munk Studio is the first one in the studio’s history being accepted for the pitching forum of this kind. Another project invited to participate in the Forum – entitled „To bury a horse”– is directed by Rafał Kapeliński and produced by Aurora Film Production.
Moreover, for the first time film professionals and festival quests will be given an opportunity of watching the newest Polish films on the big screen. The special screening taking place as a part of Market Screenings programme, organized in cooperation with Adam Mickiewicz Institute, consist of titles presented also at the compillation DVD „Polish Shorts 2010”: „Twist&Blood” directed by Kuba Czekaj, „Heroic Parrot with the Dog” by Marcin Sławek, „Talk to him” by Agata Prętka, „Millhaven” by Bartek Kulas, „The end of the world” directed by Mateusz Skalski and „Sing me to sleep” by Magnus Arensen. At the same time fifty Polish short documentaries, fiction films and animations will be presented in the videolibrary of the festival in the special programme „Polish Shorts”.
Festival will last until 12th February and short film market till 11th.
