POLISH PROGRAM AT THE INTERFILM FESTIVAL

The next edition of the German festival Interfilm is just underway. This year's program will be unique for fans of Polish short films, because our films are the subject of a separate section. Unfortunately, the festival is held entirely online for pandemic reasons.

International Short Film Festival Berlin (Interfilm) is one of the most important events in Europe devoted entirely to short films. Interfilm is on the prestigious list of Oscar-qualifying festivals in two categories – short animations and short fiction. The Berlin festival is also very popular. Every year, the number of applications exceeds 7,000, of which 500 are selected, presented in the extremely rich program of the event.

In addition to the sections devoted to German cinematography, there are those dedicated to international productions. There is no shortage of short documentaries, stories and animations. This year, this section is devoted to Polish short films. The co-organizer of the Polish program is the Krakow Film Foundation, and the Polish Film Institute is responsible for its co-financing.

The Polish program is divided into several parts. The first two are bands with animations. In the “Passions & Desires” block you will be able to see You Are Overreacting” by Karina Paciorkowska, “XOXO-kisses and hugs” by Wiola Sowa, “The Tebelgeza” by Teresa Wasilewska, “The Chick” by Michał Socha, ” Schroedinger’s Dog” by Natalia Krawczuk, “Cosmos” by Daria Kopiec , “Portrait of Suzanne” by Izabela Plucińska, “The Other” by Marta Magnuska, “III” by Marta Pajek, “Baths” by Tomek Ducki, “Tango of Longings” by Marta Szymańska and “Pussy” by Renata Gąsiorowska. On the other hand, in the “Beyond Imagination” section, the viewers will find “Story” by Jola Bańkowska, “Locus” by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, “Black Volga” by Marta Wiktorowicz, “My Strange Elder Brother” by Julia Orlik, “The Rain” by Piotr Milczarek, “Black” by Tomek Popakul, “Bless You!” Paulina Ziółkowska, Woolen Coghwheelsby Bartosz Kędzierski, “Circling The Square” by Karolina Specht, “O Mother!” Paulina Ziółkowska and “Fallen Art” by Tomasz Bagiński.

In addition to film screenings, a special discussion panel devoted to Polish animation and a masterclass with the cinematographer Weronika Bilska, who is on the jury of the international competition, is also planned. In turn, Piotr Rosołowski was invited to the Jury of the documentary competition.
