Rafał Skalski’s documentary is the best again

“52 percent”, a film that has been awarded many times, received another prize. The film was given MEO Award for the best short-length film at the Estoril Film Festival in Portugal.




The film tells the story of a young Russian girl whose biggest dream is to become a ballet dancer. She tries to be admitted to the famous  Waganowa Russian Ballet Academy in St Petersburg again and again. The entrance examinations are exceptionally difficult for her. Ałła must practise additionally to lengthen her legs, as her proportions are not correct. 52 percent is the ideal ratio of the leg length to the height.

“52 percent” was produced within the frames of the second edition of the project “RussiaPoland. A New  Gaze”. The documentary has already been given awards at festivals such as Krakow Film Festival (the Golden Hobby-horse award), CineFest Festival in Hungary (the best documentary award), and Punto de Vista in Spain (Grand Prix).
