POLISH ANIMATIONS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN DECEMBER

December brings in the cold weather and due to the festive season the festival season slows down. Majority of film events will take place at the beginning of the month and that is when Polish animations will be shown to the audiences in Europe and Central America. You should definitely check out where exactly are short animations will be presented.

Already on the first day of December a few big festivals presenting Polish short animations will begin. Eight Polish productions were invited to the competition of the 16th Mumia International Film Festival in Brazil. The audience will see previously awarded animations like “Pussy” by Renata Gąsiorowska, “Impossible Figures and Other Stories II” by Marta Pajek, “Foreign Body” by Marta Magnuska, “Bless You!” by Paulina Ziółkowska or “Strange Case” by Zbigniew Czapla. Other films in the competition include: “Biuro dziadka Stanisława” by Daria Kopiec, “MVP” by Artur Marcol and “Ink Meets Blank” by Tymon Albrzykowski.

At the same time 15th International Festival-Workshop of Film Schools Kinoproba will begin in Russia, where apart from the numerous Polish short films also animations will be presented. The audience in Russia will see “Three Women on a Bench” by Karolina Borgiasz, “Incarnation” by Barbara Rupik and “Bless You!” by Paulina Ziółkowska. In the competition we will see “Fish Shop” by Maria Kulpa.

A special selection of Polish short films will be presented at Leuven Short Film Festival in Belgium. The selected films include numerous short films by Roman Polański, first films from Marta Prus and Magnus von Horn, and the most recent animations like “Pussy” by Renata Gąsiorowska and “Beside neself” by Karolina Specht. 16 Polish animations were included in the program of the 15th edition of Animateka Festival in Slovenia. The films in the competition are: “Loneliness” by Igor Kawecki and Betina Bożek, “Oh God!” by Betina Bożek, “You Are Overreacting” by Karina Paciorkowska, “Bless You!” by Paulina Ziółkowska, “REM” by Artur Hanaj, “Squaring the Circle” by Karolina Specht, “Room” by Michał Socha, “Colaholic” by Marcin Podolec and “III” by Marta Pajek. Outside of the competition the festival will present: “The Notebook” by Aleksandra Rylewicz, “Thicket” by Adrianna Matwiejczuk, “Tango of Longing” by Marta Szymańska, “Incarnation” by Barbara Rupik, “The Other” by Marta Magnuska, “Norma” by Agata Mianowska and “My Strange Elder Brother” by Julia Orlik.

On December 4th two important short film festivals will begin: Aguilar de Campoo International Short Film Festival in Spain and BOGOSHORTS – Bogotá Short Film Festival in Colombia. At the former three films will represent Poland in the animated film competition: “Thicket” by Adrianna Matwiejczuk, “Squaring the Circle” by Karolina Specht and “Bernard” by Anna Oparkowska. At the same time in Colombia the list of films competing for awards will include “Bless You!” by Paulina Ziółkowska, “Room” by Michał Socha and once again two films from Ziółkowska and Matwiejczuk. Also the latest Marta Pajek’s film was invited to the program.

In the middle of the month the 11th Piccolo Festival Animazione will take place in Italy. In the competition we will find “Bless You!” by Paulina Ziółkowska, and outside of the competiton – “Fish Shop” by Maria Kulpa.
