Slamdance Film Festival is one of largest independent film festivals on the world. The selection committee of the Slamdance Festival has invited a Polish short film to take part in the Narrative Shorts Programme. The screening in the competition section of Slamdance will be the international premiere of “Users”. The film’s world premiere took place at the 58th Krakow Film Festival where it was awarded the Special Mention.
In “Users” a man and a woman were joined into a couple by a video chat algorithm. It is a one to several thousand chance. They say that the Internet is the last sphere of freedom. If everything is allowed, what shall we start with? How much can you experience in one night? How much can you truly feel?
Slamdance Film Festival is held in Park City, Utah, since 1995. The first edition of the festival was organised by a group of subversive filmmakers, whose films had not been accepted by the Sundance festival. They felt the need to show their films, so they organised a festival with the motto “from filmmakers for filmmakers.” During twenty years of its history, the festival opened the road to fame for such directors as Christopher Nolan, Marc Forster, Jared Hess, Oren Peli, Benh Zeitlin, Seth Gordon, Lynn Sheltona or Lena Dunham. The brand new edition of the festival takes place from 25th to 31st January 2019.
It is worth adding that the second film from KFF Sales & Promotion catalogue which is invited to Slamdance is “THE BEKSIŃSKIS. A Sound and Picture Album” by Marcin Borchardt.
