The Tricky Women/Tricky Realities Festival is the first and only film festival dedicated exclusively to animation by female filmmakers. Every year the event enjoys huge success. In addition to the competition screenings, there are several non-competitive sections, retrospectives, and special screenings available for the audience.
This year’s program also included Polish animated films. And Headprickles by Katarzyna Miechowicz left the festival with a special mention.
If you are plagued by intrusive thoughts such as: What guarantees victory in a skeleton competition? What is the optimal number of plastic bags to pack one banana? Or, where did we come from? Who are we? Where are we going? – that’s great! Headprickles is going to answer at least one of these questions. The film consists of a collection of several animated poems connected by a motif of looping in absurdity. In a colorful labyrinth of observations, the characters try to give meaning to the meaningless – or mindlessly linger it. Headprickles probably won’t change the world, cause shock or revolution, but perhaps they will prickle your head during the screening?
