The Organizers of Krakow Film Festival have chosen the poster, which is going to promote 49th edition of the Festival. The author of the winning project is Tomasz Walenta.
Tomasz Walenta has graduated from Graphic Arts at The Université du Québec in Montreal and The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in a study of Lech Majewski. Most of all Walenta creates posters and illustrations, he also works for the magazines and the institutions of culture in Poland, Canada and United States. ‘We have received many interesting projects, but it was Tomasz’s artwork, which gained our attention almost immediately” – says Barbara Orlicz-Szczypula, the Head of Programme Office and Vice President of Krakow Film Foundation, the organizer of the Festival – ‘We were captivated by the graphic simplicity and positive energy emanating from the poster, nonetheless we appreciated an accuracy of the message – thus Krakow Film Festival is the place, where filmmakers (the camera tripod) meet their public (the eye) and both sides have the opportunity to interact.’
49th edition of Krakow Film Festival is going to take place on 29th May – 4th June 2009. Krakow Film Festival is considered the most important international festival presenting documentaries and short films in Poland. Filmmakers compete in three categories – the best picture of international section gets Golden Dragon, the director of the best Polish film leaves Krakow with Golden Hobby-horse, and the winner of the feature-length documentaries competition is awarded with Golden Horn.
