Festival in Anchorage is one of the few events promoting film art in Alaska. Festival celebrates its expetional position not only owing to a lack of rivalry but mainly z because of its interesting and diverse screening programme and unique range of accompanying events. This year’s edition came to an end on the 16th December. On announcing winners Bartek Kulas, director of Millhaven, was given a honorary mention in cathegory of short animated film.
The main character of above mentioned film is a teenage girl named Loretta who was inspired to perform a murderous dance by the life in a provincial and dull town of Millhaven. Animation made by Bartek Kulas – a graduale of Fine Arts Academy in Krakow, stage designer, scriptwriter and author of short animated films and videos, was inspired by Nick Cave’s ballad „The course of Millhaven” – that was performed in film by Katarzyna Groniec.
This unconventional animation has been screened at numerous Polish and foreign film festivals such as: Montreal in Canada, Valladolid in Spain, Animateka in Slovenia, Golden Horse in Taiwan and Short Film Festival EU SHORTS in Hungary.
