DOCS: INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE OF “THE PASSION ACCORDING TO AGNIESZKA” AT IDFA

The documentary film “The Passion According to Agnieszka”, directed by Wojciech Staroń, has been selected for the prestigious Luminous section of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) – one of the world’s leading and most influential events dedicated to documentary cinema. The 2025 edition of the festival will take place from November 13-23, where Staroń’s film will celebrate its international premiere.

The Luminous section showcases exceptional, premiere works from around the world, representing a wide range of documentary styles and forms – from observational to experimental. The films presented in this program offer sensitive explorations of human experience, delving deeply into the lives of their subjects or the intimate worlds of their creators.

“The Passion According to Agnieszka” is a portrait of the legendary Polish film editor Agnieszka Bojanowska, whose work had a profound impact on the development of Polish documentary cinema. Throughout her career, Bojanowska contributed to more than 350 films – documentaries, fiction, animation, and experimental projects – and is best known for her close creative partnership with Bogdan Dziworski. Staroń’s film captures their collaboration in the half-lit editing room – a space charged with tension, mutual respect, and a shared passion for creation. In the final moments of her life, Bojanowska describes their artistic bond as a “passion for watching” – an experience that transcends the mere act of documenting reality.

The film’s international festival agent is KFF Sales & Promotion.

“The Passion According to Agnieszka” had its world premiere at the 65th Krakow Film Festival, where it received the Golden Hobby Horse for Best Polish Documentary Film.
