POLISH ANIMATED FILMS IN ESTONIA

This Wednesday, in Tallin, starts a new edition of the festival PÖFF Shorts. The programme includes as many as five Polish short animated films.

PÖFF Shorts is one of the largest festivals dedicated to animated and short films in the region. The Estonian festival is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), and it is also included in the group of festivals recommending for the BAFTA awards.

Every year, at the PÖFF Shorts, the best films by the animated film-makers from all over the world are presented. There is also no lack of great short films by talented young film-makers.  The festival has three competing sections and several special sections, including the children’s film programme and panoramas. In addition to the film screenings, numerous meetings with film-makers await the audience.

In this year’s programme of the festival, there are six Polish animated films in two competitions and the children’s film section. In the short film competition, Poland is represented by two animated films: III” by Marta Pajek and “Room” by Michał Socha.  The films “Squaring the Circle” by Karolina Specht and “Oh, God!” by Betina Bożek, however, are included in the competition for the new talents. The animated film “Bernard” by Anna Oparkowska will have its second screening at the festival.  The story of the lonely polar bear will be shown within the frames of the section the Tricky Toons for Kids.
