POLISH FILMS AT DOK LEIPZIG

​​On October 30th the 60th DOK Leipzig Festival will begin. This year, a strong representation of Polish productions will appear in Leipzig: one will take part in the competition, three will appear in out of competition sections, four will be presented in the anniversary programme "Now and Then – Then and Now" and thirteen will be shown in a special programme - "A Declaration of Love to Polish Documentary Film".

DOK Leipzig is one of the leading events in the world of documentary and animated films. Every year the latest film productions from dozens of countries of all continents are presented in Leipzig. This year, after the official selection, 166 films from 53 countries has entered the competition. In total, around 340 films will be shown at DOK Leipzig, including 20 films from Poland!

"Call me Tony" by Konrad Chrostowski will fight for the award in the International Competition. At DOK Leipzig Chrostowski's documentary will have its world premiere, whereas "How to Destroy Time Machines", a film by Jacek Piotr Bławut that got selected to the International Short Film Programme, awaits in Leipzig its international premiere.

Among the films screened out of competition there are also animations: "Pussy" will be presented in the Post-Angst programme and "Loving Vincent" will be shown during the special event – Animation Night Extended.

The DOK Leipzig Festival celebrates this year its 60th anniversary. Especially for this occasion the festival prepared the Now and Then – Then and Now anniversary programme, which also includes Polish films: "Look Out, Hooligans!" by Edward Skórzewski and Jerzy Hoffman, "Practice Exercises" by Marcel Łoziński, "The Musicans" by Kazmierz Karabasz and "Super Film" by Piotr Kabat.

Yet it is still not the end of Polish presence at DOK Leipzig. This year the German festival invites everyone for the special programme entitled A Declaration of Love to Polish Documentary Film in which Polish documentaries from the last 5 years, previously shown and awarded in Leipzig, will be presented. In this programme we will see thirteen films: "15 Corners of the World" by Zuzanna Solakiewicz, "6 Degrees" by Bartosz Dombrowski, "A Diary of a Journey" by Piotr Stasik, "Brothers" by Wojciech Staroń, "Communion" by Anna Zamecka, "Deep Love" by Jan P. Matuszyński, "Entangled" by Lidia Duda, "Father and Son" by Paweł Łoziński, "Intensity of Watching" by Andrzej Sapija, "One Man Show" by Jakub Piątek, "Shoulder the Lion" by Patryk Rebisz and Erinnisse Rebisz, "Two Worlds" by Maciej Adamek and a special screening under the auspices of Wajda Studio: „Wróblewski według Wajdy” directed by Andrzej Wajda.
