„SING ME TO SLEEP” ACCLAIMED IN SPAIN

“Sing me to sleep” by Magnus Arnesen was one of three short films that received the Special Mention at Ourense International Film Festival that came to an end yesterday.

Every year the festival in Ourense introduces the programme composed of the most innovative films produced in Galicia, Europe and Latin America – in total around 100 countries from all over the world. Festival’s screenings are complemented by  the vast programme aimed at film professionals. Masterclasses, workshops, lectures, meetings and networking get-together every year are bringing many local and European film specialists to Galicia.

This year, during the sixteenth edition of the festival, two Polish short films produced at Polish National Film School in Łódź were selected to the competition. “Barbican” by Bartek Żmuda and “Sing me to sleep” by Magnus Arnesen were screened among 45 short films produced all over the world. At yesterday’s closing gala the jury presented the special mentioned to “Sing me to sleep”. Apart from Arnesen’s film also two other fiction films were given the same distinction –  „Vicky and Sam” by Potuguese Nuno Rocha and „Little fighters” by Ivana Lalovic made in Swiss – Bosnian coproduction.

International screening tournee of “Sing me to Sleep” started in November 2010 when the film received the Grand Prix at Estoril Film Festival in Portugal. Since then the short fiction was screened at more than 25 film festivals all over the world.

International Film Festival in Ourense was held between 14th and 23rd October.
