THE TRIUMPH OF POLISH DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKER AT THE FESTIVAL IN MEXICO

The documentary by Jakub Stożek was chosen the best international short film at the 5th DOCSDF – International Documentary Cinema Festival in Mexico City. It is the first significant award for the debuting director.

DOCSDF (Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México) took place from 21st to 31st October in Mexico. From amongst several dozens of films taking part in the competitions – international as well as Mexican ones – the jury gave the best international short film award to  Polish documentary filmmaker, Jakub Stożek, for “Out of reach”.

“Out of reach” is a story of two teenage girls, who grew up without a mother, in this way learning a great deal of responsibility and courage for life. Their very mature decision is to try and find contact with their mother and rebuild family ties.

The documentary by Jakub Stożek debuted at 50th Krakow Film Festival and also received the Golden Dragon, the award for the director of the best short film.

Jakub Stożek is a graduate of English Philology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and of directing at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty at University of Silesia in Katowice
