FICTION BY ZŁOTOROWICZ AWARDED IN AFRICA!

This year's seventh edition of the International Film Festival in Kenya took place from 24 October to 3 November. More than a fortnight after the end of the festival, the news reached us about the award for "Normal people" by Piotr Złotorowicz.

The festival in Kenya is one of the few African festivals which has been clearly interested in Polish short cinema. This year, as many as eight Polish films were invited to the international competition section: documentaries "On the Road" by Leszek Dawid, "That’s life" by Daniel Zieliński, "Spring, summer, fall" by Piotr Złotorowicz, animated "The Gallery" by Robert Proch,  feature films "I won’t be here tomorrow" by Julia Kolberger, "Heroic parrot with the dog" by Marcin Sławek, "Favourite thing" by Piotr Iskra and finally, "Normal people" by Piotr Złotorowicz, that got the best student film award on the last day of the festival. The jury praised the acting and the execution of the school etude by Złotorowicz.

Daniel, who has just left the prison, tries to turn over a new leaf in his life. It is not that easy – he has to look after alcoholic mother and find a job. Maybe the relationship with a casually met paramedic would bring a little bit of happiness? Normal people are people with their own secrets and weaknesses. But also with dreams of a better "normalcy." Would they manage to fulfill them together? The words by George Orwell "normality is not a question of statistics" fully express the idea behind the plot of "Normal people."

The Kenyan award is the 10th international statuette for Złotorowicz, who currently prepares for making his graduation film at Polish National Film School in Łódź.
