“HEAVEN” BY JAN P. MATUSZYŃSKI RECEIVES SPECIAL MENTION AT THE DOCSDF FESTIVAL IN MEXICO

DocsDF festival, at which Poland was the special guest this year, has just ended. In the international short documentary competition the special mention went to the film "Heaven" by Jan Paweł Matuszyński.

"Heaven" is a story of 38-year-old Robert who is seriously ill and because of it … happy. At last he has time to do what he had always dreamt about. Painting changes his life totally. Every day means for him working on yet another icon. The jury of the International Short Documentary Competion at the seventh edition of DocsDF festival, including: Froylán Ramón Rascón, Ricardo Girlado and Taco Ruighaver decided to give the special mention to the film by Jan P. Matuszyński.

 

DocsDF festival took place in Mexico City from 8 to 18 November 2012. Polish documentary cinematography was the special guest of this year’s seventh edition of the festival. In the competition sections, the Mexican audience had the opportunity to watch, apart from "Heaven", "Survive Afghanistan" by Małgorzata Imielska. Within the frames of the festival, also non-competitive screenings of the best film from Krakow Film Festival were shown in the series Masters from Krakow and the latest Polish documentary productions, successful at the international festivals – in the series Young Talents. A numerous delegation of Polish film makers and people working in the film branch flew to Mexico. They had the opportunity to meet the audience and present the strategies of distributing Polish documentaries on the European and international markets.
