POLISH ANIMATIONS AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN JANUARY

The beginning of the year is most of all the time to sum up and prepare for a new festival season, that's why there's less screenings and film events in January. But let's not forget about the famous Sundance Festival, London Short Film or French debut festival Premieres Plans. Check out where and which Polish animations will have their festival screenings this month.

On January 10 a screening of “Bless You!” directed by Paulina Ziółkowska will take place at the Indian Pune International Film Festival. One day later the 16th London Short Film Festival  will begin in the UK, where two Polish animations will be presented. “Oh God!” by Betina Bożek will compete for awards and “Pussy” by Renata Gąsiorowska will be presented outside of the competition.

In the second half of the month several important film events will start. On January 23 at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam Tomasz Popakul’s film “Acid Rain” will have its world premiere. The animation will be presented in the Voices Short competition. Just a few days later the film will be shown in the competition of the prestigious Sundance Festival.

At the same time as the famous Robert Redford’s festival, Danish VOID International Animation Film Festival will begin. Michał Socha’s animation “Room” and Barbara Rupik’s “Incarnations” were invited to the competition there. Also this month French festival Premiers Plans will present two Polish animations. “REM” by Artur Hanaj and “You Are Overreacting” by Karina Paciorkowska will compete for awards.

By the end of January the 42nd edition of the Göteborg festival will also take place. “III”, an animation directed by Marta Pajek, will have its screening at the Swedish festival.
