DOCS: “WIND. A DOCUMENTARY THRILLER “AWARDED AT TRENTO

One of the most important mountain festivals has just ended. One of the prizes awarded at the Trento Film Festival went to the authors of a Polish documentary.

Established in 1952, Trento Film Festival is the oldest film event entirely devoted to mountain and exploration topics. In addition to the climbing challenges and moving deeper into the caves, there are also topics related to the environment and ecology. The program includes documentaries, full-length fictional films and short film forms that tell about the relationship between man and nature, as well as nature itself.

This year’s festival program includes as many as two Polish documentaries from KFF Sales&Promotion catalogue. The Tough by Marcin Polar and the awarded Wind. A Documentary Thrillerby Michał Bielawski.

The hero of the documentary, which received the Golden Gentian award, is the halny wind – one of the most unpredictable forces in the Polish mountains. It appears cyclically every spring and autumn. You never know if and when it will turn into a destructive gale. Halny especially affects the inhabitants of Zakopane and the surrounding area, turning picturesque mountain trails into a space of unbridled action of nature.
