This Wednesday the 11th edition of the Icelandic Reykjavik ShortsDocs Festival’12 came to an end. At the closing ceremony Paweł Wysoczański – the author of documentary “We will be happy one day” was presented one of the main festival’s award.
Short fiction film directed by Marcin Bortkiewicz, produced in frame of 30 minutes programme by Munk Studio was selected to the screening at the accompanying section of the Cannes film festival - Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs)!
At the closing gala of the 24th Filmfest International Short Film Festival in Dresden Poles celebrated a double triumph. Two graduation films directed by the students of Polish National Film School in Łódź, “I won’t be here tomorrow” and “Frozen stories”, were listed among the laureates.
There is nobody to beat Polish documentary filmmakers! Two Polish documentaries were listed among the laureates of 9th International Documentary Film Festival Docudays in Kiev scoring the two top prizes of the competition.
On 17th March the 8th edition of student film festival KINOKI reached its end. The jury decided to hand over one of the main prizes to the short fiction “Normal people” by Piotr Złotorowicz – a student of Polish National Film School in Łódź.
During the yesterday’s closing of the fourth edition of the short film festival GO SHORT in Dutch Nijmegen, Grzegorz Jaroszuk’s graduation film received the special mention. The award for the graduate of Polish National Film School in Łódź came up as a perfect crowning of the fact that Poland was this year’s guest country at the festival.
On 10th March the third edition of student Flicks Film Festival organized by the students from Dutch Groningen reached its end. Short fiction by Piotr Złotorowicz was announced the best among all the films presented in this year’s selection.
Tomorrow in the evening the fourth edition of Dutch short film festival GO SHORT will kick off. This year proved extremely fortunate for Polish films as eight titles were selected to the festival’s competition. What’s more another five films will be screened in frame of the special programme POLISH SHORTS.
Another international success of Polish documentary filmmakers - "Returns" by Krzysztof Kadłubowski wins the "Big Stamp" award while "Decrescendo" by Marta Minorowicz and "Paparazzi" by Piotr Bernas receive special mentions at 8th International Documentary Festival Zagreb DOX, that has just came to an end in the capital of Croatia.
Graduation fiction short directed by Julia Kolberger – “I won’t be here tomorrow” is going to be screened in May in frame of “A world of shorts” – a monthly screening series organized by CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival held in Canada.
On 18th February the 15th edition of Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) came to an end. The only Polish film in the competition – “Declaration of immortality” by Marcin Koszałka was awarded one of the main festival's awards.
Three Polish films were selected for this year’s programme of the American South by Southwest Music and Film Festival. The festival, that is one of the biggest and most important music festivals in US, apart from the abundant programme of music events every year hosts an impressive film selection. During nine SXSW festival’s days 130 films produced all over the world will be screened in Texas.
